The Legend of Zelda (part 2)

If you have ever been to a petstore, than you know how exciting it can be. Nicki was no exception.  "There are so many to choose from!" she cried, staring into a cage. It was true. There were a million different hamsters, all with different colours, sizes, and shapes. She ran from cage to cage, trying to get a glimpse of each one, but there were too many. She smiled at the tiny gray ones sleeping in the corner of their cage and laughed at the big brown ones as they fought for food. She loved them all, so how could she ever pick just one?
Time passed. Nicki had narrowed them down to her three favourites, but she was stuck at a tie. All three of them were beautiful. There was the little black one, munching on a carrot. The fat caramel one, napping on it's wheel. And third, a pretty gold one, just sitting there, watching her. They were all so cute. But she had to pick just one.
"Nicki, we need to get going. If you're going to pick one, please pick it now." her mother said. A stricken look passed over Nicki's face. She turned quickly to face her mother, but something was standing in her way. She took a step back to get a look at it. It was a cage. Inside the cage was a hamster. A wonderful, perfect hamster. She was a beautiful shade of gold, with big, black eyes that stared back at Nicki like a mirror. The hamster squeaked.
Nicki's eyes opened wide. "This is the one," she said instantly.
And so it was.

winning story: NICOLA PURCELL

>> The current time stuff will be in normal writing and flashback in italics. Also it's supposed to take place before the wedding of Nibbles and Goldie<<

I stare up at the cold, gray sky, I think about Zelda, and I wonder where she could be. I do hope we find her soon. If we don't, what will Goldie do? She'd get so upset if she knew what actually happened to Zelda.....

We were going on a walk, we were having such a good time. Me and Zelda were talking about our wedding and planning it even more. It was in 3 days. I was so excited. Me and Goldie, getting married.
'Yay! My wedding day is going to be the best day of my life!' I thought.
"Nibbles?" asked Zelda, "You haven't talked in a minute. I asked you a question."
"Oh sorry. Daydreaming again. What was the question?"
"What would you like to dance to?"
"I don't know..."

All of a sudden, there was a human right in front of us. They had a net. Me and Zelda both screamed, turned around and started running. Unfortunately, since she had been recently pregnant, Zelda could not run as fast as me. As I was running, looking back every second, I saw Zelda get caught.

"Zelda!!!" I screamed after her. " I'm sorry!!!"
"Nibbles!" And she was gone.

I couldn't even think of it. It was too sad. I do hope we find her soon. We just had to find a petstore.

Thank you again for your entry, Nicki. You did a great job!

We mourn together.

Readers, I'm afraid I have to bring up some bad news. Allow me to explain;

All the hamsters in my Nibbles books are based on real hamsters, except Nibbles. That means that Goldie, Zelda, Rosie, Lala and Dypsy are all based on real pets. I am very sad to say that Zelda has died.
She was an inspirational hamster and we will always remember her.

The Legend of Zelda (part 1)

Here's a short story about how our Zelda came to be... but if you want to read more you will have to check my blog again soon.

Once upon a time, there was a girl named Nicki. Nicki was a very nice girl, and she loved animals. One day Nicki decided that she wanted to buy a pet. And not just any pet. Nicki wanted a hamster.
She asked her parents, but they didn't like the idea. "You need to be responsible," her mother said. "You need to be caring," her father said. And so Nicki was left without any ideas, unsure of what to do next.
After quite a while of thinking, she finally came up with a plan. She would be responsible and she would be caring. She would prove to her parents that she could own a pet. And so she did. For weeks she worked; she did her chores without complaint, she tidied her room twice a week, and she even scrubbed out the toilets. When three weeks had passed by, she asked her parents again. This time, they recognized all of the work that she had done, and, without the tiniest bit of begging, they agreed. "Tomorrow we will go to the petstore," her mother said. "But for now, you must go to sleep."
Nicki went to bed, but she was so excited that it was difficult to get to sleep. She couldn't wait until tomorrow. What hamster would she get? What would it look like? Would it be a girl or a boy? All of these questions swirled around in her head until she was so dizzy with thought that her eyes began to close. Nicki yawned. Maybe now she would finally get some sleep....

Come back to my blog soon to find out what happens next!!!
